The First Online Global Orientation - International Migrants Alliance (IMA) August 26, 2023

On August 26, 2023, the International Migrants Alliance (IMA) Global successfully held an orientation attended by 65 participants from Argentina, Ecuador, Guatemala, US, Canada, Asia, and Australia. IMA would like to thank the participants for their enthusiasm in attending the orientation, even though they had to face the time difference which was the biggest obstacle.

The orientation was aimed at members to get to know IMA and the work done by IMA. The event was divided into two sessions. The first session was about an explanation of IMA, led by Rey Asis. Rey explained the history of IMA, the achievements that IMA has made since it was formed in 2008, campaigns, organizational structure, and who could become a member of IMA.

An open forum was conducted after Rey's presentation. Members were free to ask questions and make comments. Some members responded to the work done by IMA, shared the struggles they faced in their respective countries, and mentioned some upcoming events that would be conducted by their organizations. Not only about IMA activities, the participants also talked about conferences and/or seminars that will be held by other organizations, which IMA members may be able to attend.

The event concluded after 90 minutes with the announcement of the next IMA Global Orientation to be held in October, which would be conducted in English and French, and a group photo of the orientation participants.
