[ARTICLE] IMA Global Online Orientation
15 December 2024
IMA Global successfully held an online orientation on December 15, 2024. The event, which was attended by around 40 participants from Asia, the USA, Canada, and Latin America, lasted for 1.5 hours and was facilitated by 2 IMA Executive Committee (EC) members: Manuel Hidalgo (MIREDES International) and Joanna Concepcion (Migrante International). The orientation started at 10:00 PM Hong Kong time and was attended both by members of the migrant and refugee communities.
Manuel and Joanna explained why IMA was established, its vision and mission, IMA's campaigns (both past and ongoing), the organizational structure, IMA constitution and by-laws, and the work that IMA does. Many participants asked questions about the concrete work done by IMA and its members and expressed their interest in joining IMA.
The orientation was concluded with a short message from Eni Lestari, IMA Chairperson, encouraging IMA members to be more active in recruiting new members and holding orientations at the local and national levels, so that more migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, and displaced persons unite and organize in their struggle for rights and welfare.
